The falling ball testing machine can produce peeling, breaking or other surface effects through multiple impacts between steel balls in a relatively short period of time. Grinding balls stop the machine after severe spalling or cracking, thus ensuring accurate recording of the number of failure impacts, even if the balls are added or removed during the experiment. The large-scale falling ball impact spalling experiment is helpful to better understand the generation mechanism of grinding ball spalling and crushing, so as to formulate countermeasures to reduce spalling and crushing.
